In Person Counselling

In person counselling sessions provide a warm, safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your concerns.  Face to face sessions are a good option for people who are looking for a place to express their feelings and receive support and empathy whilst also addressing unhelpful thoughts, learning new strategies and skills, making positive changes, developing clarity and self-awareness, and restoring hope and purpose in life. In person sessions are available in Perth's northern suburb of Joondalup.

Online Counselling

Online counselling is an accessible, affordable, convenient, time-efficient, and evidence-based option for therapy.  Research confirms online therapy is just as effective as face-to-face therapy and has added benefits for those who are unable to access in person counselling or for those who prefer the privacy and comfort of their home environment for therapy sessions.

Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy involves meeting at an outdoor location with your therapist where you will walk together for one hour whilst discussing the issues you want to explore.  Walk and talk therapy incorporates gentle exercise and enjoying nature to improve mental health and wellbeing.  Walk and talk therapy improves mood, reduces anxiety and depression, promotes clarity of thought, enhances self-awareness, fosters the relationship between client and therapist, promotes reflection, and contributes to peace of mind.

Couples Couselling

Couples counselling can help you address common relationship issues including communication issues, infidelity, financial issues, sexual issues, division of responsibilities, parenting concerns, blended families, extended family involvement, work related stress, behavioural addictions, or other concerns.  At Above the Waves Counselling we believe in the importance of relationships and are here to help you work through your differences, reconnect, improve communication, and find joy and satisfaction in your relationship once more.  Evidence based interventions including the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy are utilised in couples therapy along with other suitable approaches.
